Did you know that March is Social Work Month?
This month, the National Association of Social Workers is honoring the nation’s 650,000 social workers for standing up for millions of people every day:
“They stand up by comforting people who are experiencing devastating illnesses and mental health crises, ensuring they get best possible care while on the road to recovery. They stand up and support military personnel, veterans and their families, immigrants, people living with disabilities and people who are LGBTQ. Child, family and school social workers stand up by protecting children who have been abused and neglected, helping children find new families through adoption, and ensuring young people reach their full academic and personal potential. And social workers work in communities and with national, state and local government to provide services and pass legislation to stand with and help people with the most needs.“
Social workers are an indispensable part of our communities and champions for some of the most vulnerable people in our society. They are vital to our vision of children growing up safe and healthy in strong families across the Commonwealth. Their dedication and hard work is often underappreciated, so now is the perfect time to honor the social workers in your life with a “thank you”, a hug, or a high-five.
Happy Social Work Month!
